This program is for complete beginners. They will learn 4 techniques of pottery namely coiling, slab, nerikomi and wheel throwing. The objective is to familiarize students with these basic techniques which they can take it forward by themselves or in our advanced course.

Objectives

• Introduction to clay as a medium

• Preparing clay for working via techniques of kneading and wedging

• Creating total of 4 objects using the techniques learnt

• Understanding glazes and its application

• Learning surface decoration techniques

• Introduction to potters wheel

Mitti intermediate course is designed for students with previous knowledge of basic pottery skills. This level applies if you are taking the wheel ahead.

 

Objectives

• Refining wheel technique

• Working with larger weights of clay (wheel throwing)

• Understanding under-glaze, glazes and its application

• Surface decoration techniques

10 Sessions; 2 hours each.

Mitti advanced level 1 is designed for students with previous knowledge of intermediate pottery skills. You can refine your skill further by taking one technique ahead.

• Creating complicated forms ( big bowls, hump thrown, teapot, double walled forms, section throwing, statement pieces, sculptural pieces)

• Working with 1 - 2kg of clay ( if wheel selected)

• Surface decoration techniques and glazing

Mitti advanced level 2 is designed for students with previous knowledge of advance pottery skills. You can refine your skill further by taking one technique ahead.

 

Objectives

• Working of pieces as per you specific skill requirement

• Working with 2 - 3 kg of clay

• Surface decoration techniques and glazing​​

Inclusive of all taxes, tools, clay, firing and glazing.

 

Duration:

10 Sessions; 2 hours each.

Mitti beginners potters wheel course is designed for students who want to learn only the potters wheel and learn to throw pieces on it.

• learn potters wheel from scratch

• Working with 500gms - 700 gms of clay

• Throwing and trimming cylinders and bowls

• Surface decoration techniques and glazing

 

Fees:

20000/-

The course is made up of 10 sessions

Each session is for 2 hours. That includes tools, clay and firing of 6 pieces.

You just need to carry an apron for yourself.

 

Extra pieces will be charged 400/-

 

Fees are non - refundable.

 

Please note, you can miss up to 3 sessions.

After that every session will be charged at 1000/- rs

 

Weekday and weekend slots.

This 3-4 month program is for potters who want to start their own studio/ ceramic line. You get to start with with the basic techniques like coiling, pinching, slab and wheel in the first month. The other two months you hone a technique that you would like to specialise in.

• Wedging and preparing clay to work on it.

• Making pieces with coiling, slab, pinching, nerikomi and potters wheel

• Learning to make a mosaic, wall mural

• Learn how to make mugs, teapot, jars, plates, bowls and attaching handles.

• Surface decoration, urderglazing, glazing.

This course can be modified as per requirement

 

The course is made up of 64 sessions. 4 times a week compulsory classes.

Each session is for 2-3 hours

 

That includes tools, clay and firing of 20 pieces. Extra pieces will be charged 400/-

Please note, you can miss up to 10 sessions.

After that every session will be charged at 1000/- rs

 

Weekday and weekend slots.

This is one time session (scheduled workshop) of 1.5- 2 hours where we teach you one of the hand-building techniques, namely pinching, coiling or slab. You get to create one object (max 5in x 5in) based on these techniques. The piece is then fired and will be handed to you in 30 days.
